IN PERSON

I belong to a coworking space in John’s Landing in Portland, Oregon. There’s public transportation and a parking lot adjacent to the building. I love to meet people in person so you can clap eyes on me and make sure I am okay. I am not at my office every day but if regular in-person work is something that is important to you, I will work hard to find places where our schedules line up and we see each other in the office. In between, or for anything unforeseen that comes up, we can use teletherapy to stay connected.

ONLINE

Research demonstrates that telehealth is as effective as in-person work. I was providing digital therapy before the pandemic began and am very comfortable with the ins and outs of its weirdness. I mostly love that telehealth makes ongoing therapy possible when situations in life make it hard to get to the office.

HYBRID GROUPS: MODERN EMOTIONAL SUPPORT

One of my groups is mostly online, with quarterly in-person meetings. The other group is mostly in-person, with very occasional online sessions. I also use Owl conference technology which makes it possible for people to come into an in-person group online, if they are out-of-state or unable to make it to the office.

MULTI-STATE PRACTICE

I am currently licensed in Oregon, Washington, Texas, Alabama and District of Columbia (DC).

I really enjoy long-term work and don’t like to be forced to stop meeting when someone moves away if they want to keep going.

To stay connected with people, I have pursued licensure in several states. There are also a few states that allow temporary teletherapy. I am happy to look up those regulations to help us figure out how to keep meeting if that is something you would like to do while you are away temporarily.

I look forward to social workers securing an interstate licensure compact, where we can keep working on your goals wherever you are.
