More info about me and
the process of therapy
My primary practice interest is in helping people figure out how to stop attacking themselves — starting with when they aren’t aware they are doing it and don’t know how destructive it is to them.

It might seem strange at first to hear that the way you normally talk to yourself is self-attack. You will be astonished when you begin to realize that your unkindness toward yourself is not something you have to live with and can be treated.
I want to work on what people want to talk about, so if someone doesn’t relate to self-attack, no problem.
I have a lot of advanced education and pursue ongoing professional development to help sort through many other problems in living that you may have experienced:
Anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship problems, family conflict, codependence, addiction of all kinds, ADHD and learning challenges, psychosis, personality concerns
This is my third career. I had a long career in the arts and education before I moved into social work. I get excited learning about the details of people’s jobs and brainstorming out how to make changes people want to make.

Your job in therapy is to come regularly, pay regularly, and say your thoughts & feelings.
I started my psychotherapy education in New York City after doing a lot of other creative stuff in life. I’m not like other therapists.

I truly welcome you telling me how you feel about our work together. I will help you get used to being more direct and honest with the people in your life when they merit the gift of your feelings, and sometimes when they don’t.
I love to work with all kinds of different people, individuals, couples, groups, and all sorts of problems. I want to learn about the circumstances of people’s lives, their dreams, the things they think they must hide from the world, even though we all have problems like that. It is a sincere pleasure to help people deconstruct that shame and to see themselves as integral parts of our sad tired beautiful world.

It’s hard to update the way you have been surviving for your whole life. Early training is powerful. Systemic forces are real. Let me help you.
